The Festival Feeling Returns!

Global Village Green Spaces

June 2021 – May 2022

Essex Cultural Diversity Project is presenting a series of Global Village events across the county, which will capture the festival feeling, celebrate diversity and engage communities across Essex in the county’s parks and green spaces.

This is all thanks to support from Arts Council England to support this new twelve-month programme, with match funding from Essex County Council and ActiveEssex. This will allow us to build on our past Global VillageCaravanserai and other festival projects over the last ten years, bringing bespoke performances, workshops and activities to many more outdoors spaces across the county for all to enjoy.

A series of taster events at Hadleigh, Belhus, Danbury and Cudmore Grove Country Parks will lead to a Global Village Lite at Cressing Temple Barns at the end of August, building audiences for a full-scale Global Village at Cressing Temple in 2022.

The programme will involve organisations including BrazilArte working with Brazilian and Portuguese communities at Hadleigh Country Park, Efua Sey Cultural Academy working with Afro Caribbean communities at Belhus Woods Country Park, Essex Multicultural Activities Network working with Muslim Pakistani and Indian Hindu Communities at Danbury Country Park, and Colchester Chinese Culture Society working with the Chinese community at Cudmore Grove Country Park. These will culminate in a Global Village event to be held at Cressing Temple Barns near Braintree, alongside the Essex Book Festival finale event on Sunday 29 August.

We’d like to thank Arts Council England alongside key partners ActiveEssex and Essex County Councils’ Culture, Heritage, Tourism & Green Spaces Environment and Climate Change Action departments.
