Strings and Drums, a World Schools Music Project in Canvey Island

Strings & Drums was a World Music Project connecting traditional Tabla (Indian) and Djembe (African) drums with Sitar (Indian) and Kora (African) stringed instruments, complimenting each other and providing an opportunity for diverse music practitioners to share their musical skills and improvisation.

The project took place in 2013 and gave children and young people in primary and secondary schools in Canvey Island an opportunity to experience world music and to compose and perform new work using drum percussion and stringed instruments.
