Diwali Concert with Raj Heer

Global Village regularly tours the East of England, bringing an explosion of colour from all corners of the world. As part of our Global Village Presents… series, we invited ‘the Nightingale of the Punjab’ singer Raj Heer to Rochford.

She performed a magical Diwali concert to a fully booked Freight House, a beautifully restored former British Rail goods shed in the centre of Rochford, Essex. The project has been supported by Arts Council of England and Rochford District Council, and funded by UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Raj Heer is a soulful and melodious Indian vocalist and a writer based in London. Raj has roots from the Punjab, where she excelled in high academic musical training, and mentoring from renowned artists. Learning with the greats has kept Raj focused on the quality of her work, and her live performances are always appreciated for the high quality of vocals and versatility in approach. This talented artist is also a keen poet who is working within Punjabi and Urdu poem forms.
