ECDP Radio shortlisted in national radio awards
ECDP Radio with Nita Jhummu was shortlisted for the 2021 Community Radio Awards, in the best podcast category. We were delighted to make the shortlist, whittled down from more than 430 entries from every corner of the UK. Winners were revealed in a ceremony at the Coventry Transport Museum, in partnership with Coventry UK City of Culture in October, which was attended by Indi Sandhu, ECDP’s Creative Director & CEO, and broadcaster Nita Jhummu. Unfortunately ECDP Radio did not win but the nomination and recognition was a great achievement. Congratulations to the winners and to all those nominated.
The national Community Radio Awards were set up in 2016 to celebrate community radio, and recognise all the hard work and time that the volunteers involved in community radio put into their stations, shows and communities. The awards are a judge led process, with judges drawn from the community radio sector, academics, other radio and associated areas, and the 3rd sector.
Martin Steers, awards chair, said: “As face to face events resumes, it’s great to get together and celebrate the hard work of the last 18 months. Many stations have further cemented their essential community role in this time, and it is great to reflect. It is clear to see from this, that passionate presenters, volunteers, and staff are really there for their audiences. We wish ECDP Radio good luck and can’t wait to host the ceremony in Coventry next month.”
