Uplift: The Creative Case for Diversity
Uplift is a joint project between Essex Cultural Diversity Project and Take the Space, supported by Arts Council England’s Elevate fund.
Already at the forefront of diversity work in the East and South East regions, the Elevate fund is enabling both Essex Cultural Diversity Project and Take the Space to work in partnership to develop their organisations, strengthen the infrastructure for and discussion around diversity in the region, share good practice and create opportunities for artists and arts organisations working in this area. Overall, Uplift will enable us to scale up our work and aim higher.
Essex Cultural Diversity Project and Take the Space are working in partnership with four National Portflio Organisations based in the East, South East and London regions: The Brighton Dome, Talawa Theatre, The Bush and Metal (Southend). Through shared services, knowledge sharing, and shared resource planning, a joined-up approach should benefits both artists and audiences.
“Arts Council England wants the arts sector to reflect the diversity in the work it produces and the people who experience it. This is what we are working towards with the Creative Case for Diversity. The Elevate fund will strengthen the resilience of organisations who are contributing to this work – to make sure they can continue doing this important work” Arts Council England website
