Creative Workshops with Lora Aziz
Creative Workshops with Lora Aziz
Wednesdays 23 and 30 September, and 7 October | 10am – 12 noon
Trustlinks Community Garden on Vange Hill
As part of her ECDP commission Monuments to Collective Care, hosted by mental health charity Trust Links, Lora Aziz invites communities in and around Vange, Basildon to creative workshops in the Trustlinks Community Garden on Vange Hill.
Over the next few months Lora is aiming to spend time with visitors and volunteers at the garden, as well as women in the local community, to co-create an engraved stone sculpture inspired by Celtic and UK rock art, which will become a permanent addition to the new zen garden. The engravings will be inspired and informed by glyphs designed by the community on local fauna and flora folklore.
Join Lora in the Zen Garden at Vange Community Gardens:
What we’ll do:
– Explore local plants, wildlife and stories on gentle nature walks
– Try simple printing and creative activities
– Share local stories and folklore about plants and animals
– Help inspire a new sculpture for the Zen Garden
Good to know:
– Lunch will be provided after each session
– No previous art experience needed, just come along and take part in whatever way feels comfortable
