Cultural Exchange for the Festival of Thetford & Punjab

As part of the Festival of Thetford & Punjab we organised a cultural arts and craft exchange, between craft groups at the Guru Nanak & Milan Day Centre on Gravesend and Ancient House Museum in Thetford.

The day of activities included a visit to Ancient House musuem to look at the Duleep Singh Special Exhibition and a talk by historian and author Parmjit Singh on 19th-century photographic portraits and studies of the people, places and events that helped to create a golden age of empire for the Sikhs. After a visit to the statue of Maharajah Duleep Singh on Butten Island, we went to the Guild Hall to present hand made poppies to the Mayor of Thetford for their large scale art installation planned for the town centre, followed by a visit to Duleep Singh’s grave at Elveden.
