Global Village: Bhaji on the Beach

The Sunspot, Jaywick Sands

Bhaji on the Beach was a free family cultural event at the Sunspot in June 2025. It was part of the Beach of Dreams, a month-long celebration of coastlines and their communities across the UK.

Community groups from Jaywick, Clacton, Colchester, Chelmsford and Ipswich were invited to bring their own community picnics to share and enjoy on the beach, and all joined in the celebrations at the Sunspot with Indian food, Bollywood dancing, henna hand painting, Tai Chi, kite making, art workshops, a DJ, dancing and more! There were multicultural activities for all ages to enjoy.

The Sunspot a new venue situated opposite the beautiful stretch of sandy beach on the Essex Sunshine Coast in Jaywick Sands.

This event was part of Beach of Dreams 1 May-1 June 2025, a UK-wide coastal arts festival exploring the unique heritage, cultures, and futures of our coastlines in the face of the climate emergency. Find out more at www.beachofdreams.org
