Snapping the Stiletto Special
ECDP Radio features interviews with a range of people connected to Essex Cultural Diversity Project’s artistic programme, presented by Nita Jhummu. This episode is dedicated to Snapping the Stiletto: Campaigning For Equality, a project that celebrates the real women of Essex, and aims to challenge the Essex Girl stereotype. Nita talks to Nina Tame and Hephzi Tagoe, two of the six women recently chosen to be Ambassadors for the Snapping the Stiletto project.

About Snapping the Stiletto
Snapping the Stiletto: Campaigning for Equality aims to find and tell the stories of women of all ethnicities, LGBTQ+ individuals, working women, and women with disabilities. About Nina Tame
Nina Tame is an Ambassador for Snapping the Stiletto. She has built up a following on her Instagram account by sharing her experiences as a disabled woman and engaging with issues including ableism and accessibility. She is a trained counsellor and mentors other disabled people. Nina was nominated to be a Snapping the Stiletto Ambassador by her partner who wanted to celebrate how she uses her platform to inspire confidence in other disabled people and change perceptions of disability.

About Hephzi Tagoe
Hephzi is a science communicator who is passionate about increasing the accessibility and inclusiveness of science, particularly those from those underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and maths. She set up Basildon Street Science, and runs educational opportunities for young people and their families. Hephzi was nominated to be an Ambassador by a former colleague who wanted to highlight her work with underrepresented communities.

About Nita Jhummu
Nita Jhummu is an award-winning radio broadcaster having won “Presenter of the Year” at the HBA National Hospital Radio Awards in Bolton in 2017, as part of the Hospital Radio Chelmsford team. She currently presents popular show, “City Talk” on Monday nights on Chelmsford Community Radio (CCR 104.4FM) and has a real passion for radio – be that talk shows or feel-good music.
Aside from radio broadcasting, Nita has a background in financial services and data analytics. Nita is a graduate of the London School of Economics and having worked for prestigious companies such as Citibank, Deloitte and Lloyds Banking Group, Nita is now working for a specialist lender who focus on niche mortgages, development, construction and asset finance.
Nita is from Brentwood and her heritage is from Mauritius. Her parents were instrumental in setting up the Essex Hindu Dharma Society which was a group set up in Brentwood in the 1990s and is still going strong today from it’s base in Witham. Nita’s favourite foods are her Mum’s dholl puri and her Dad’s rougaille – both yummy traditional Mauritian foods.
